Between now and Election Day in May, we will highlight the 30 Emerge Oregon alumnae appearing on primary ballots throughout the state.
In the last two emails we focused on our alumnae at the top of the ticket and who are running for re-election to the Oregon State Legislature.
Today we focus on four candidates who are running for the state legislature for the first time!

Kimberly Koops-Wrabek, HD 11 (Central Lane and Linn Counties):
“I’m running to create opportunities for all Oregonians. Growing up in rural Oregon, I saw firsthand how the deck is stacked against women, students and working families. I’m running to makes sure that everyone – regardless of their circumstances – has a voice in Salem.”
Darcy Long-Curtiss, HD 59 (The Dalles, Madras):
“I’m running for Oregon House District 59 because for too long, rural eastern Oregonians have felt that the state government wasn’t receptive to their point of view. My years of building relationships at the local, state and national levels, provides a unique opportunity for our message to be heard and receive equal consideration. I have excellent working relationships with key players in Salem and I am confident that my experience of being raised and now living and working as a financial advisor in central and eastern Oregon makes me the best representative of the diverse communities within my district.”
Andrea Salinas, HD 38 (SW Portland, Lake Oswego):
“I am running for my first election since my appointment last September, and I’m proud of the work I’ve done to keep women, children and families safer by passing meaningful gun violence prevention legislation, increasing penalties for strangulation and addressing sexual harassment investigations in schools. I want to continue that work as well as work to shed a light on the high cost of prescription drugs.”
Rachel Prusak, HD 37 (Tualatin, West Linn):
“I’m running because I’m tired of people in power – elected officials- who claim to represent us, ignore their constituents in favor of special Interest. Nurses unequivocally advocate for what’s best for people. We work in stressful, fast-paced environments, make tough decisions and put the lives of others ahead of our own every day. We are the most trusted profession and I believe it’s time we have that level of trust in our representatives.”
